Making your Trip a Pleasant One

Here are some timely tips for making your airline travel more enjoyable and less stressful.
Make yourself comfortable. Since you’ll be spending more time in the terminal, think of what to bring that’ll make it easier to wait. If you travel frequently, joining an airline club that offers a comfortable lounge is definitely the way to go. A sweater, a neck pillow, eyeshades, a water bottle and some healthy snacks are good ideas.
Be prepared. Bring extra reading material, toys, games and a pack of cards for the kids. A crossword book or a business book you’ve always wanted to read but never found the time for are good ideas.
Get to the airport earlier. Expect to be asked to power up your laptop or have your carry-on baggage searched thoroughly. If you’re not going to use your laptop on the plane, consider putting your laptop in a padded sleeve and into your checked baggage.
Arrange a meeting place. Call the airport ahead of time before you decide on a meeting spot so that there’s no confusion at the last minute.
Make a copy of your e-ticket. And bring the credit card you used in case you’re asked for proof of purchase.
Go through your carry-ons. Remove all questionable sharp objects. Make sure your kids aren’t taking scissors or other items that may be confiscated. Pack light—place only essentials in your carry-on bag. The fewer items you carry, the quicker you’ll pass through security. If you’re packing clothes and toiletries, consider using mesh pack-it systems to keep items separate and to make it easier for a security check.
