About ALDA

The American Luggage Dealers Association (ALDA) is a cooperative of over 130 luggage, travel goods and leather goods retail stores. It is dedicated to helping its members provide the finest service and products to the public. 

ALDA was formed in 1970 by a group of independent retail luggage dealers to improve their buying power and develop merchandise programs. As a cooperative we give individual store owners tools and resources to better compete with big box stores, department stores, catalog and internet retailers.  Many stores continue to be run by second and third generation family members.

Members from different parts of the country have the opportunity to serve on various buying and selection committees. This provides each committee the variety of expertise and direction needed to select featured products for catalog and flyer publications and negotiate special discounts and terms from vendors.

The association is guided by a board of officers and directors, who are full time store owners volunteering their time to serve. An administrative staff helps run the organization.

ALDA members have a firm commitment to offer high quality, brand name products in their stores, to stand behind the products they sell, and to provide personalized and knowledgeable support to customers. Many stores also offer expert luggage repair services and do custom engraving and monogramming on the premises.
